What are sexual health services?
Sexual health services can help you look after your sexual health. They can help with:
STI tests and treatment: You can get tested and treated for sexually transmitted infections, also called STIs. These include chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and HIV.
Contraception: You can get help to stop an unplanned pregnancy. This includes emergency contraception, also called the morning-after pill. You can also get coils, implants, injections and free condoms.
HIV prevention: You can get advice about medicines that lower the chance of getting HIV. These medicines are called PrEP and PEP.
Where can I get help?
You can get sexual health support in different places.
- Specialist sexual health clinics: These clinics can offer STI tests and treatment, contraception and HIV prevention support.
- Online sexual health services: You can order some STI tests, some treatments and contraception online. You can also get support to access PrEP.
- GP surgeries and pharmacies: Some GP surgeries and pharmacies can offer contraception. This may include emergency contraception, also called the morning-after pill.
How do I use the services?
If you live in Leicestershire or Rutland, you can use specialist sexual health clinics and online sexual health services. You can order online. You can also scroll down the web page to find the Hub and local community clinics. The page shows where they are and when they are open.
Some GP surgeries in Leicestershire and Rutland offer long acting reversible contraception. This is also called LARC.
LARC includes coils and implants.
You can check if your GP surgery offers this. You can also check if another nearby GP surgery can help people who are not registered there.
