Who is this service for

We’re here to support anyone over the age of 12, who lives, works or has a GP registered in Leicestershire or Rutland and wants to give up smoking.  We also offer tailored support during pregnancy.

Whether this is your first attempt to quit, or you've tried before, we're here to support you in a way that works for you.

How does it work

  • You’ll receive personalised support from a trained stop smoking advisor who will take time to understand your circumstances, preferences and goals.
  • Together, you’ll explore what triggers your smoking, discuss the stop smoking options available to you, and create a realistic and achievable plan to help you stop smoking.

Benefits of stopping smoking

Health

Stopping smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health and for the health of your family.

A smoke free home and car helps protect you and the people around you from:

  • second-hand smoke which can make breathing problems worse, particularly for the young and vulnerable
  • risk of accidental fires from smoking materials

Financial

Also, stopping smoking is one of the quickest ways to improve your financial wellbeing. With average savings of around £49 each week, many people could save over £2,500 a year by quitting, freeing up money for the things that matter most to them.

When to get help

You can contact us whenever you feel ready to think about stopping smoking.

It doesn't matter whether this is your first quit attempt or whether you've tried before. Many people make several attempts before they stop smoking for good, and every attempt can help you learn what works best for you.

If you're pregnant, stopping smoking at any stage can benefit both you and your baby. The sooner you get support, the sooner those benefits can begin, but it's never too late to ask for help.

What happens after you are referred

Once we receive your referral, a member of our team will contact you to discuss your smoking and answer any questions you may have.

Together, you’ll explore the support options available and agree an approach that feels right for you. A trained stop smoking advisor will then support you throughout your quit journey.
